Don Brooks is a CPA, attorney and real estate broker. He earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his Juris Doctor degree from Duke Law School. He started his real estate career in 1973 as General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer for Peachtree Corners, Inc., a planned community in northeast Atlanta. He then served as President & Chief Operating Officer of The Landmarks Group, an Atlanta-based commercial real estate and development company that was later acquired by The Trammell Crowe Company. During his tenure, The Landmarks Group developed single-family residential neighborhoods, hotels, and office buildings in Tampa, Orlando, Miami, and Atlanta.
Mr. Brooks and Stephen Macauley first teamed up in 1993 to finance and develop Legacy Park in northwest Atlanta. Mr. Brooks then joined Beacon Properties, a publicly traded REIT engaged in developing, acquiring, and operating office properties nationwide. He was Senior Vice President & Investment Committee Member of the parent company in Boston, Chief Executive of Beacon Properties Mid-Atlantic in Washington, DC and Chief Executive of Beacon Properties Southeast in Atlanta. Beacon Properties was subsequently acquired by Equity Office Properties.
Mr. Brooks re-joined The Macauley Companies in 2004 and is responsible for the development of new business. Over the years Don has devoted and continues to devote substantial time to a variety of professional, charitable, civic, and religious organizations in Atlanta and elsewhere.
